About

Hi! I'm Mendel Jacks

Engineers of are undoubtably fortunate. The internet offers on demand knowledge of how to create awesome applications. However this widespread access means almost anyone with sufficient patience can teach themselves the raw skills. What sets top engineers apart really isn't competency in teachable skills such as mathematics or the latest standard of technical drawings. Engineers of today need to understand a companies true needs, knowing which questions to ask and which problems to solve.

No3rd

A multi-vendor E-commerce and E-fulfillment platform

No3rd wishes to connect manufacturers directly to consumers cutting out all 3rd party sellers. Their software requirements include a customer website where people can add products to their cart, a vendor backend where vendors can create and manage listings, and various warehouse management and logistic software for internal use. When it comes to warehouses, it's all about speed and organisation. Efficiency is key.

Redibase

A realtime database

This package is the redis based alternative to google's firebase. The goal is to harness the speed of vanilla redis while adding much loved firebase features.

Whatsapp Puppeteer

Webscraper for whatsapp web

An automated solution to message friends. This node app launches a chrome browser to whatsapp web and waits for you to scan the qr code. It then proceeds to send messages by simulating a human typing and clicking

Motorsport

A team of engineers and business students design and construct a formula style racecar to compete internationally.

When building a working car, it's all about making the theory real. Each of the subteams learn valueable skills such as designing with cost in mind, metal work, electrical assembly and a competitive spirit.

Ampetus Energy

Ampetus energy is all about smart affordable commercial batteries

In an increasingly connected world, the Ampetus energy pod is the battery that uses Amazon Alexa platform to answer questions about storage levels and savings.

Automation

Arduino based autonomous robotics

These days electronics are expected to be compact and cheap. They say the computing power that was used to land on the moon is now available in the average cell phone.

Nanosat Revolution Melbourne

The ambitious Melbourne team designing a miniature satellite.

Satellites are not built to look pretty, they are built to work. Once launched there is little that can be done to fix common errors, which means a single bug can cause the entire project to be a collosal waste of resources. The key here is testing, testing and more testing...

The fix it mindset

Sometimes though, it's about handling the unexpected

Engineering efforts small or large will eventually encounter their fair share of problems. It's important to keep a clear head and just roll with it.
